The Albenga area is a land of vineyards, small producers and wines deeply connected to the local territory. Pigato is undoubtedly the star, alongside Vermentino, Rossese, Granaccia and other grape varieties typical of western Liguria.
We have selected three wineries that are easy to reach from Albenga, each offering a different story, style and type of experience: from vineyard visits to more technical tastings, through to a cooperative bringing together numerous local winegrowers.
Le Rocche del Gatto
An unconventional tasting
Le Rocche del Gatto is located in Regione Ruato, in the Salea area, about 5.4 km from Brezza di Sale. The winery focuses mainly on Pigato and Vermentino made in a traditional style, with winemaking methods designed to preserve a strong connection with the local territory. Its labels include Pigato, Vermentino and Rossese, alongside more distinctive wines such as Spigau, made from selected Pigato grapes, and Macajolo, produced mainly from Ormeasco.
The most interesting part, however, is the tasting. The experience lasts more than two hours and may begin directly from the stainless-steel tanks, tasting Pigato and Vermentino while they are still evolving, before moving on to bottled wines from different vintages and true vertical tastings. It is therefore a particularly interesting experience for anyone who wants to go beyond simply tasting a few labels and understand how wine changes over time.
To try: Spigau, one of the winery’s most representative wines, made from 100% Pigato grapes and crafted in a way that gives it greater structure and ageing potential.
Why choose it: for a tasting experience that is a little different from the usual, especially suited to those curious to discover Ligurian wines with a strong personality and compare different vintages and stages of their evolution.
📍 Distance from Brezza di Sale: about 5.4 km
⏱ Tasting duration: more than 2 hours
🍷 Specialities: Pigato, Vermentino, Spigau, Rossese, Macajolo

Cascina Feipu dei Massaretti
Pigato, from vineyard to cellar
Cascina Feipu dei Massaretti was founded in Albenga in the late 1960s, when Agostino and Bice Parodi began gradually replacing the vegetable crops of the Albenga plain with vineyards. Today, the winery remains family-run and cultivates just over five hectares of vines, mainly on flat, sandy and alluvial soils.
One of the most interesting features is that the wines are produced exclusively from grapes grown in the winery’s own vineyards in Albenga. The close proximity between the vineyards and the cellar also allows the grapes to be brought quickly to the winemaking facilities after harvesting.
The star is, of course, Pigato, also produced in the La Palmetta version, alongside Rossese and Granaccia. The winery also produces two sweet wines, La Bice and Il Pippo, further expanding a range that is strongly rooted in local grape varieties.
The visit includes a walk through the vineyards and a tasting in the cellar, lasts approximately two hours and is available by appointment only. The experience is still included in Vite in Riviera’s 2026 wine tourism programme.
Why choose it: to discover Pigato starting from the very place where it is grown, explore the vineyards of the Albenga plain and experience a family-run winery deeply rooted in the local territory.

Viticoltori Ingauni
Wines of Western Liguria in one winery
In Ortovero, about 15 minutes from Brezza di Sale, Viticoltori Ingauni tells a different story from the other wineries in our selection. Founded in 1976 by thirteen winegrowers, the cooperative now brings together producers from different areas of western Liguria, from the Albenga area to the Arroscia Valley.
Pigato remains the star, but here you can also discover many other expressions of local winemaking: Vermentino, Rossese, Granaccia, Ormeasco di Pornassio and Lumassina, along with a selection of sparkling wines. This variety makes it particularly interesting for anyone who wants, in a single visit, a broader overview of the wines of western Liguria.
The cooperative has a tasting room and also offers visits to the winery and vineyards. Wines can also be purchased directly on site.
Why choose it: to taste different grape varieties and appellations and discover how wine changes across the landscapes, elevations and valleys of western Liguria.
